Portugal Coach Announces First Squad, Confirms Ronaldo Decision

New Portugal coach Roberto Martinez has named his first squad for the upcoming 2024 European Championship qualifiers.

Martinez took over from Fernando Santos after Portugal's disappointing quarter-final exit at the 2022 FIFA world Cup at the hands of Morocco.

The former Belgium tactician has decided to call-up Cristiano Ronaldo, who left European borders for Saudi Arabian outfit Al Nassr in December.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is a very committed player. He can bring experience and is a very important figure for the team. I don't look at age," Martinez told reporters, as per goal.

The 37-year-old has netted eight goals in seven Saudi Pro League games for Al Nassr in the last two months.
