Having not kicked a ball for Kaizer Chiefs since September last year, there has been concern over the whereabouts of starlet Sabelo Radebe, with head coach Arthur Zwane providing a reason for his absence.

There were high expectations for Radebe, when he was promoted to the club’s first team under Gavin Hunt in 2021, given his bright performances in the club’s DStv Diski Challenge.

But in three seasons, he has managed just 13 appearances, a worrying statistic for the talented midfielder.

Naturally, there was a sense of optimism upon the appointment of Arthur Zwane, who was pivotal to Radebe’s initial promotion to the first team, with the duo having worked together in the club’s reserves.

“I think I know Bibo better than any of us. Unfortunately at training he hasn’t been himself, trying very hard and working very hard,” Zwane told journalists at the Wanderers Country club.

“Anytime soon, he’ll get his opportunity. As you know, in terms of results, we’ve been blowing hot and cold, so we’re also trying to get the combinations right with injuries here and there.

“I think Bibo will also get his chance when the time comes,” he added.
