Maart started the season in a host of various midfield partnership before some tinkering by coach Arthur Zwane saw the 26-year-old strike up a combination with Blom, who was shifted from right back, into a flourishing combo.
However, halfway through the campaign and Maart has had to establish a new partnership, this time with the fresh-faced Samkelo Zwane who has been making strides in the Chiefs first team.
Blom was sold to MLS outfit ST Louis City.
The Bafana Bafana midfielder has however embraced the new partnership formed with the young Zwane, even if it meant a slight positional change for Maart.“At the end of the day I just need to work hard, as always. To have Zwane with me is good, because he’s learning what it takes to play at this level. I had a good partnership with Blom, but this is football and I need to be able to play with whomever is in the team. I think I’m clicking with everyone who is playing around me,” Maart told the club’s official website about his new midfield partner.Maart will be hoping his partnership with Zwane can inspire Chiefs to victory over AmaZulu, with the two sides meeting for the third time this season on Friday night.“They lost their last game and so did we. Both of us need the points, so we are going to have to want it more than them. Even though it is their home game, we are going to come with more effort and make sure we get the points,” he explained.Read: 6 Players Tipped To Carry Chiefs’ Hopes You must be SIGNED IN to read and post comments.
