
The Premier Soccer League is set to welcome back a new cup competition next season that is set to replace the Telkom Knockout.

Telkom ended their sponsorship of the PSL in 2020 after 14 years of sponsoring the knockout competition.
Despite adding new innovations like the DStv Compact Cup to its competition roster, the PSL had never quite replaced the knockout competition.
However, a new competition is set to be rolled out in the form of the Carling Black Label Knockout in a completely new format to the one fans have come to know.
While a lot of the information has been held back, what we do know is that the tournament will comprise of all 16 teams and is set to take place in December 2023. Details like the prize money is yet to be confirmed.
In addition, there will be an all-star match, which will comprise of a combined starting XI as voted for by the fans who will take on the winners of the knockout cup.
“Will there be something next year? Absolutely! There will be something every year because that is what you do as a champion. So next year, we will involve the fans where they will choose an all-star team from all 15 of the teams in the PSL and that all-star team will play the winners of the Carling Knockout Cup,” Arné Rust Brand Director of Carling Black Label told journalists.
