Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has suggested that it's a compliment to have the opposition "playing low block tactics" against his side, considering where they come from.

Before beating Royal AM, Chiefs had lost three consecutive matches without scoring a goal and the theme of struggling to score continued over the weekend after they were held to a goalless draw by TS Galaxy.

The Rockets employed a low lying block strategy, especially after going a man down early in the second stanza and Amakhosi could not unlock their defence.

There is therefore a recurring theme that the Glamour Boys find it difficult scoring against teams that are parking the bus, so to speak, but Zwane says they do not have such issues.

"I don't really have a problem with teams that are playing low block tactics, we've played against too many where we managed to penetrate and still create goalscoring opportunities," Zwane told the media in a press conference ahead of the Nedbank Cup last 32 clash against Maritzburg United on Friday.

"We were just unfortunate not to take them and obviously most of the teams must have realized that you can't just play open game against us because we can easily punish you," he said.

'Mangethe' actually believes that it's a compliment to the improvement they have made in changing the playing style of the team, as most teams have realized they can't go pound to pound with them anymore.

"But it tells you that we're in the right direction compared to where we were and where we are. You know previously, teams would play pound for pound and believe they can beat Chiefs," he continued.

"Now of late, I mean even the coach of TS Galaxy (Sead Ramovic) came and said, 'Coach we had to sit back, we didn't have a choice', actually from first-half if you look at the chances we created.

"And most of the games is just lapse of concentration where we concede, we're just unfortunate when it comes to that because when we make a mistake, we get punished," he said

"And when we force those teams to make mistakes or through combination play or being aggressive in front of goal, we just have this poor decision-making that lets us down most of the time," he added.

Chiefs take on an unpredictable Maritzburg United in the Nedbank Cup on Friday.
