The Siya crew has been informed that SAFA has taken action against two match officials who committed crucial errors in recent matches, which had match-altering consequences.

Following their respective errors in matches between Swallows vs TS Galaxy as well as SuperSport United vs Golden Arrows, Tshidiso Maruping and Cledwin Baloyi will not be receiving any top-flight appointments.

The decision was taken by the SAFA Referees Technical Committee, following the incidents which had a direct impact on both matches.

The Siya crew reached out to SAFA Head of Referees Abdul Ebrahim, who confirmed that the duo will be undergoing a rehabilitation program where they will work with national and provincial instructors.

Depending on their performance and the feedback of the instructors, the officials will then be reinstated to top-flight matches.

“I can confirm that certain match officials will not be receiving appointments for a set period as recommended by our Review Committee,” Ebrahim told the Siya crew.

“Our Technical Committee ensures that the individuals are put through what we call a rehabilitation program where they work with technical instructors from both National and Provincial.

“They officiate lower league Provincial or Regional matches where they are assessed, and their performances are scrutinized.

“The instructors report on their progress during this period to the Technical Committee who in turn will advise the referees department on their readiness to return to National duty,” he said.

The duo will be eligible for the ABC Motsepe League, Motsepe Foundation Championship and the DStv Diski Challenge in that period.
