The DStv Premiership took center stage this past weekend with Mamelodi Sundowns continuing with their winning momentum and widening the gap between them and the chasing pack, while Sekhukhune United interrupted Kaizer Chiefs’ birthday celebrations at FNB stadium.

Sundowns are now sitting 10 points clear SuperSport United, who are second on the log on 27 points from 15 games. Coach Rhulani Mokwena’s charges beat Richards Bay 2-0 in their own backyard at King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium on Friday night before coach Gavin Hunt’s Matsatsantsa a Pitori saw their winning streak come to a halt, following a 2-1 away loss to Golden Arrows at Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday.

Orlando Pirates suffered a come-from-behind 2-1 loss away to Cape Town City after taking the lead through a well-taken Dion Hotto shot that left Darren Keet with no chance to stop it at all! Goals from new-signing Juan Camilo Zapata and Darwin Gonzalez proved enough to secure all three points for the Citizens. Sekhukhune United visited Kaizer Chiefs who were celebrating their 53rd birthday at FNB Stadium on Saturday night and spoiled the party for Amakhosi. Coach Brandon Truter’s charges made their intentions clear from the onset and went on to win the game 1-0 courtesy of a solitary Vusimuzi Mncube goal in the 49th minute.
