What's the story?
Has a jersey ever been launched on a runway before?
Well it seems that adidas and fashion brand Wales Bonner have created history by previewing the Reggae Boyz' new adidas kit at Paris Fashion Week.
The hotly anticipated release certainly doesn't look out of place on the runway and is a big moment for the intersection of football and fashion.
Jamaica x Wales Bonner x adidas
British menswear brand Wales Bonner showcased its Autumn/Winter collection at Paris Fashion Week yesterday and stunned when two Jamaica adidas kits graced the runway.
Wales Bonner and adidas have collaborated on several occasions, using vintage football sillouhettes for sneakers and other garments in the English brand's previous collections.
It now seems that Wales Bonner has worked with adidas to design the new Jamaican national team jerseys.
As stated by Soccer Bible, Wales Bonner is run by Grace Wales Bonner, who has Jamaican heritage on her father's side.
It seemed ideal for the German sportswear giants to lean on the London-born designer to help design and sneakily launch the kit on fashions biggest platform.
adidas announced in August last year that they'll be the new kit for the Jamaican Football Federation, sending Jamaican footballs into a frenzy over the exciting collaboration.
The home jersey seems to take some inspiration from adidas' vintage football jerseys in the 70s and 80s, with a bright yellow base with green pinstripes over them and is completed with green, yellow and black collars and cuffs.
The away jersey follows the same design with a black base. This is a significant moment for the ever-growing relationship between football and fashion that could reach new highs in 2023.
