Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are reportedly close to securing the services of an ex-Manchester United star.
Guardiola Makes Bold Arsenal Prediction
Former Red Devils and current Netherlands defender Daley Blind is reportedly set to undergo a medical at the Allianz Stadium ahead of his proposed move to the Bavarians.
The 32-year-old will sign for the record German champions as a free agent after agreeing to terminate his contract with Ajax Amsterdam at the end of 2022.
The versatile player made 333 appearances for Ajax as he helped the Dutch giants win seven Eredivisie titles during his two stints with the club.
Sandwiched in between those two tenures in the Netherlands capital was his time at Old Trafford.
During his four years in the Premier League, Blind was part of the last iteration of the Red Devils that were able to get their hands on silverware, helping them attain UEFA Europa League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup success before making his return to the Dutch top flight.
Most recently, Blind was a pivotal part of Louis van Gaal's Netherlands side that made it to the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals, where they were thwarted by eventual winners Argentina via a penalty shootout.
Bayern's first-choice left centre-back Lucas Hernandez is out for the next nine months after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in his right knee at the World Cup, and the Bavarians were not keen on spending millions to find a suitable replacement.
African Nation First To Name Stadium After Pele
According De Telegraaf, the Bundesliga club's hierarchy feel Blind can still contribute at a high level, and given there is a large former Ajax contingent at Bayern with the likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Matthjis de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui all at the Allianz Arena, this should help Blind adapt quickly should the deal be confirmed.
