Top met bottom in the Bundesliga on Sunday as Bayern Munich handed Schalke a 4-0 drubbing to stretch their lead to seven points at the top of the table.
Bayern coach Hansi Flick made three changes from the narrow win over Augsburg. Niklas Sule and Alphonso Davies replaced Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez. Meanwhile, Leroy Sane was recalled behind lone striker Robert Lewandowski, with Kingsley Coman dropping to the bench.
Bayern had the first good attempt when Lewandowski connected with Kimmich's delightful cross, but sent his header just over the crossbar. Soon after, Mark Uth ghosted into the box to meet Bastian Oczipka's neat cross, but headed straight at Manuel Neuer from close range.
In the 23rd minute, the free-kick was set for Lewandowski to whip a powerful strike that was beaten away by Fahrmann, who then reacted quickly to keep out Serge Gnabry's follow-up attempt.
Thomas Muller gave the Bavarians the lead on the half-hour mark when he expertly headed home Joshua Kimmich's superb delivery.
Lewandowski got himself on the scoresheet in the 54th minute. Kimmich played the through ball for the Pole, who slid the ball under Ralf Fahrmann from a tight angle.
Another neat flowing move from Bayern saw Lewandowski find Gnabry in space on the left. The winger drilled a low shot towards goal, but Fahrmann got down well to hold.
With 20 minutes left on the clock, Lewandowski neatly turned away from his marker and got a shot away. However, hid does not strike it cleanly and the ball trickled wide of the target.
Muller grabbed his brace when he was in the right place at the right time to head home from a cross from Kimmich, who assisted three of Bayern's goals.
David Alaba got the fourth when he let fly after being assisted by Kingsley Coman and the goalkeeper let it squirm under him and into the back of the net, as the Bavarians wrapped up a big win.
