With the Todd Boehly consortium almost certain to lead the two-time UEFA Champions League winners as its owner for the foreseeable future, there are some players who might be headed in the opposite direction, through the exit door.

An area of the pitch that will certainly need reinforcing in the upcoming window is the defence. Centre-back Antonio Rudiger has reportedly agreed terms on a four-year deal with Real Madrid, with it being said the Germany international signed a pre-contract with the Spanish giants following the uncertainty over Chelsea's ownership status.

Another centre-back destined to leave West London for Spain is Andreas Christensen. The Denmark international's contract is also set to expire at the end of June, and he has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona.

The 26-year-old also asked to be left out of the Blues' squad that played in the FA Cup final earlier this month, fuelling rumours of his departure.

Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta, meanwhile, could join Christensen at the Camp Nou, with both Spaniards also heavily linked with the Catalan club as they enter the final 12 months of their deals.

There could also be a mass exodus of sorts in the five-time Premier League champions' attacking department, with Romelu Lukaku, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech all uncertain of their Chelsea futures.

At the beginning of the season, Lukaku was believed to be the missing piece that would propel the reigning European champions to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City for the league title, but this was not to be.

Despite scoring three goals in his first three 2021/22 league appearances for the Blues, the Belgian would go on to finish the league campaign with just eight strikes in the Premier League.

It will perhaps be difficult to find a club that would be willing to take Lukaku off Chelsea's hands given the amount they paid Inter Milan for his services, but should they fail to come to a conclusion regarding how best to utilise the 29-year-old, then perhaps the Londoners will have to sell him at a loss.
