De Bruyne: Why I'd Prefer To Play With Ronaldo Over Messi

Belgium superstar Kevin De Bruyne has revealed why he would choose to play with Portuguese icon Cristiano Ronaldo over Argentina legend Lionel Messi.

The Nine Contract Demands Messi Made To Barca Revealed

De Bruyne has been in scintillating form so far this season for Manchester City, having scored once and assisted eight times in the 10 games he has played.

The 31-year-old appears to enjoy the responsibility of creating more than finding the back of the net, which has been evident since Erling Haaland's arrival at the Etihad.

De Bruyne and the Norwegian have dovetailed well since becoming teammates, with the playmaker assisting Europe's most prolific striker three times in the nine games they have played together.

It thus perhaps makes sense that the ex-Chelsea man would rather play with Manchester United's Ronaldo over Paris Saint-Germain attacker Messi.

"I would probably say Ronaldo because he's more of a typical striker," the central midfielder said in an interview with Wow Hydrate.

"Messi is still more of a playmaker.

"I am a playmaker, you can give me a striker."

A Ronaldo-De Bruyne partnership almost came to fruition last season, when the Citizens were briefly linked with a move for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner before the 37-year-old opted to keep his United legacy intact by returning to Old Trafford.

Hazard Makes Real Madrid Admission

While City may not regret their apparent failure to sign the Real Madrid legend, Ronaldo's legacy seems to be suffering as he is struggling to break into United's strongest starting XI.

While in the blue half of Manchester they look set for another title onslaught, international football's all-time leading goalscorer has been relegated to the bench by manager Erik ten Hag of late.
