Result: Bournemouth 1-0 Liverpool

Date: 11 March 2023

Venue: Vitality Stadium

Jurgen Klopp made just one change from the 7-0 win over Manchester United, as captain Jordan Henderson made way for Stefan Bojcetic in the middle of the park.

The game got off to a livley start as Reds defender Virgil van Dijk went clsoe to breaking the deadlock on six minutes through a towering header that produced a fine save from Neto.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, did look lively on the break a few times, with the pacy Dango Ouattara managing to get beyond the Liverpool's defence  on two ocassions although he was not able to capitilse.

Outtara's prensence helped the hosts get the opening goal on 28 minutes when the Ivory Coast international shrugged off Van Dijk before picking out Philip Billing, who fired past a helpless Alisson Becker.

The hosts nearly doubled their lead just before the halftime break when Senesi did well to pick out Dominic Solanke in the box, but the striker sent his first-time effort over the crossbar.

Reds manager Klopp responded with a change at the start of the second half, with Harvey Ellot making way for Diogo Jota as they pushed for an equaliser.

It was Bournemouth who nearly got the second goal on the hour mark, as when Biling turned provider and sent a fine cross into the box that found Senesi, who fired wide.

Liverpool were afforded a lifeline on 67 minutes after being awarded a penalty as Jota's header struck the arm of Adam Smith. Salah stepped up but failed to hit the target from 12 yards out, much to the delight of the home fans.

The Reds threw everything forward in search of an equaliser, with Cody Gakpo firing over the crossbar from in second-half stoppage time as the hosts held on for a vital win in their fight against relegation.
