According to Marca, the Blaugrana have reached an agreement with Los Rojiblancos over the potential acquisition of Belgium international Yannick Carrasco.
The 29-year-old could make his way to the Spotify Camp Nou once the 2022/23 campaign is over and sign for a fee of €20 million (R373 million).
Catalan club boss Xavi Hernandez was said to be looking to negotiate a swap deal with the team from the Spanish capital in which Carrasco would make his way to Catalonia and Dutchman Memphis Depay would go in the other direction.
However, the Netherlands' second-highest all-time top goalscorer is reportedly on course to become Diego Simeone's latest arrival after the 11-time Spanish champions paid €3 million (R56 million) for his services.
It is believed that Barca originally wanted to bring Carrasco in during this window but were unable to convince Atletico to let him go as the Madrid giants did not want to weaken their squad in the midst of an erratic season.
Simone’s side has underperformed in this LaLiga campaign, finding themselves struggling for consistency, and would want to keep their strongest performers in abid to turn things around.
The same report also suggests that the agreement is not obligatory, so the five-time European champions would have the option to move on from Carrasco should they wish when the time comes to honour the deal.
