Talisca has revealed why he believes Cristiano Ronaldo let him take a penalty in Al Nassr's win on the weekend.

An Al Nassr star, who was seen as the team's main man before Cristiano Ronaldo arrived, has reacted to the Portuguese forward handing him the chance to take a penalty this past weekend.

On Saturday, the Saudi Arabian giants came from behind to secure a 2-1 home victory over Abha in the Saudi Pro League.

Al Nassr went a goal down in the 26th minute and struggled to get back into the game until a moment of magic from Ronaldo in 12 minutes before the final whistle.

Ronaldo stepped up to strike a set-piece in his trademark style and rocketed the ball past the opposition goalkeeper from range, bringing up his ninth for his new club and the 58th direct free-kick goal of his career.

Minutes later, Al Nassr were awarded a penalty after Abha player Abdel Fatah Adam was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area, with many expecting Ronaldo to step up to score a second in the match.

Instead, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner handed the ball to Brazilian attacker Talisca, who converted his effort from 12 yards to hand Al Nassr an important league win.

Speaking after the game, the 29-year-old said he believes his teammate gifted him the opportunity as a show of respect.

"This is mutual respect and we are one team and we act like a family," he told Saudi Sports Company TV through an interpreter.

"We all co-operate and the most important thing is the team. In the end, it's all for the benefit of the club. Whether it is me or any other player, the important thing is to score.

"It is certainly something special from Ronaldo."
