According to Marca, the Saudi Pro League is quietly assured that the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner will be donning the blue of Al Hilal when the 2023/24 campaign commences.
The 35-year-old is rumoured to be leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season when his contract expires, and with Hilal having reportedly offered the Argentine a deal worth more than €400 million (R8.2 billion) a season, it is felt this will be enough for him to call the Blue Wave his next team.
The Gulf state is interested in rekindling the historic rivalry of Messi and Ronaldo, and with Al Nassr having already acquired the Portugal captain, they are now attempting to lure the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner as well.
The Rosario native's agent and father Jorge Messi has stated that no decision will be made until the end of the season and while Hilal may be confident of the Albiceleste captain's arrival, Barcelona will still be hoping they can prevent that from happening.
The Blaugrana have made it clear they would love to have Messi return to the Camp Nou, and it is believed the diminutive attacker is also interested making a comeback to the club where he spent 21 years. However, that move will be contingent on whether or not Barca are able to afford his wages, or even allowed to sign him.
