A former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper could be an option for one of the PSL strugglers in these early stages of the new season.
Following their slow start to the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign after picking up only one point from a possible 12 in four matches, Cape Town City could be forced into adding more players and experience to their squad with a view of improving their season and also preparing for the CAF Champions League.

The Mother City outfit’s woes have been worsened with the imminent official announcement of the exit of Hugo Marques, who has been the team’s number one goalkeeper.
While Bafana Bafana international Darren Keet stepped up for his first match of the season last night against Maritzburg United, the Citizens will be in search of an experienced shot-stopper to add to Eric Tinkler’s team, according to sources.

Former Chiefs goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi, who is currently a free agent since leaving Naturena, could be among the options for City, along with former Sekhukhune United keeper Ayanda Dlamini, among others.
City might also consider making a U-turn on Bongani Mpandle, who hasn’t signed for any club after leaving the Cape outfit at the end of the season.
Mpandle is rated highly by Tinkler but his lack of game time last season led to his decision to leave.
Meanwhile, Marques has since confirmed his exit from City on his official Instagram account.
“One year of Cape Town City FC! I’m grateful for meet amazing people at Cape Town, in the club and in the city as well! Proud to be in the history club and proud of my commitment with everyone! I leave, but my name and my person stay in your minds! Thank you office staff, chairman, technical staff, medical staff, players and fans! All the best for those who share the same feeling about the football like I do,” Marques wrote.
