Having turned out for the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Bidvest Wits and Cape Town City, one can just imagine the numbers thrown his way. Now, Bhongolwethu Jayiya takes the Siya crew inside his money whirlwind during his playing days.

My first paycheque & sign on fee

My first professional salary was R25 000 and my my signing-on fee was R150 000. I was 20 I think, and I had just signed my first professional contract in the PSL. A lot of people don’t know my story but when I started at Wits, I was at BidBoys, which was the Vodacom [ABC Motsepe] side. I was earning R1200 when I started there. Imagine with R1200 I only needed R400 to get to work. The other R800, I gave it to my mom. So, it wasn’t much for me, and I went to school, so it was fine for me. That's where everything came from. Whatever amount I was going to get, just use what you need, and you can save the rest or put it somewhere where it’s going to help you at the end of the day.
