After overcoming his injury concerns that have plagued him over the last couple of months, on-loan Orlando Pirates striker Boitumelo Radiopane could be the missing link to Cape Town Spurs’ title hopes.
There were high expectations for the 21-year-old when he joined the Urban Warriors on loan from the Buccaneers at the start of the season, given his rich goalscoring exploits in the DStv Diski Challenge.
However, injuries have hampered his progress in his first few months in the Mother City.
Radiopane marked his return to action for Spurs with a goal against the University of Pretoria, which sent Spurs through to the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup, and his assistant coach Nasief Morris hopes for more of the same in their league title race.
“I think since the first couple of weeks that we saw him, we knew that there was something there. The only thing was the niggling injuries he encountered. Fortunately for us, he has been injury free, and we hope that it stays like that because we know how valuable he is to the team,” Morris told journalists at the Nedbank Cup draw.

“You saw the goal, this is what we were waiting and hoping for and also looking forward, not only for the cup but for the league because this season, its different for us compared to the last couple of seasons where we were fighting at the bottom, now we find ourselves at the other side of the table and everything is in our reach.
“We need every single player in our squad to contribute towards us achieving our goals at the end of the season,” he concluded.
