With AmaZulu FC moving down on the DStv Premiership log, the pressure is mounting on the club’s head coach Romain Folz to turn the team’s fortunes.

Usuthu suffered yet another defeat in their most recent match on Friday evening, against Stellenbosch FC at the Danie Craven Stadium.

The defeat has left the Durban-based side in ninth place with a difference of eight points between them and bottom-placed Marumo Gallants.

The loss follows the team’s exit from the Nedbank Cup after losing to ABC Motsepe League side, Dondol Stars, last Wednesday.

While Folz was recently handed a new long-term contract by the club, the expectations are for the mentor to turn the fortunes of the club in line with president Sandile Zungu’s bigger plans for the KwaZulu-Natal giants to become among the top four clubs in the country.

The French-Moroccan coach’s new deal runs until 2026 and Zungu said Fohloza, as Folz is fondly known, is the coach he can trust in his plan to build Usuthu for 2032.

In 14 matches in the league under Folz, AmaZulu have won three, drawn eight and lost three.

While some sections of the club’s fans have expressed disappointment in the team’s results, the mentor has had the backing of the management to contribute in building the club for the future.

The team’s next match will be against struggling Swallows FC at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on April 01.
