Result: Royal AM 0-0 TS Galaxy

Date: 03 January 2023

Venue: Chatsworth Stadium

Andre De Jong was recalled to the Royal AM line-up to partner Ruzaigh Gamildien in attack, while Tebogo Potsane also earned a start following the loss to Cape Town City.

Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic was forced to re-shuffle the pack five minutes into the first half after Orebotse Mongae was forced off with an injury and replaced by Lindokuhle Mbatha.

The Rockets enjoyed most of the possession in the first half and managed to force a couple saves out of Royal AM shot-stopper Hugo Nyame.

That proved to be the trend for the remaining stages of the first half, although both sides did crack the woodwork as the opening 45 minutes ended all square.

The hosts opted for a double change at the start of the break, with De Jong and Lesego Manganyi making way for Shadrack Kobedi and Shaune Mogaila.

There were plenty of goals between the two sides in last season's fixtures, but chances were hard to come by at both ends despite changes at the interval.

Royal AM were then given a lifeline after being awarded a penalty with 14 minutes left on the clock, but Gamildien failed to convert after smashing the crossbar.

That proved to be telling miss, as the encounter ended all square at Chatsworth as both sides settled for a share of the spoils.

Royal AM will now turn their attention to Sunday's KwaZulu-Natal derby against AmaZulu, while Galaxy travel to the Western Cape to face Stellenbosch.
