Date: 14 January 2023

There was history for the home side, as Deano Van Rooyen became the highest capped player in the top-flight for the Western Cape side after making his 77th appearance.

The visitors looked to continue from where they left off against Kaizer Chiefs, as Vusimuzi Mncube played Chibuike Ohizu through on goal but the latter saw his strike sail just wide of the mark.

Stellies came into the clash winless in their last seven league matches, with their scoring woes coming to the fore after scoring twice in the last five outings.

Brandon Truter's charges made their impressive start count with ten minutes left in the second half, with Ohizu getting his second league goal of the campaign.

While the home side pushed for an equaliser, Truter opted to freshen up the pack as Mncube and Ohizu made way for Mabasa and Mokwana just after the hour mark.

Stellies pushed for an equaliser as the second half went on and they were nearly rewarded with 20 minutes to go, but Daniel Cardoso popped up with a vital intervention.
