Whether it is a permanent move away from the club, or simply a loan move for the rest of the 2022/23 season, these Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns players could benefit from moving away from their respective clubs.

Gift Motupa

Now in his third season with Sundowns, after he joined from Bidvest Wits the 2020/21 season, Motupa arrived with a big reputation for scoring goals and was knocking on the Bafana Bafana door. However, injury and fierce competition within the Sundowns squad has meant that Motupa has featured just 17 times in three season, scoring three goals in the process. He remains one of the deadliest strikers in the country when injury free, but Motupa would do well getting regular game time elsewhere.

Thabani Dube

Austin Dube is one of three Chiefs players who are yet to kick a ball this season, the other being youngsters Bontle Molefe and Keletso Sifama. So limited has the 30-year-old’s chances under Arthur Zwane been. There has been talk of a possible return to Richards Bay where his impressive form saw Chiefs snap him up. At this stage of his career, Dube would be looking to play regularly and he might have to look outside of Amakhosi to do that.

Fans were delighted to see the 28-year-old back in Orlando Pirates colours in the Carling Black Label Cup, but that is as far as it went in terms of game time this season. Despite having a fantastic 2021/22 season, Makhubela is finding minutes hard to come by at Pirates. The dribbling wizard has been linked with a move away from the Buccaneers.

Sandile Mthethwa

The Carling Black Label Cup was the perfect opportunity for Mthethwa to remind fans just what he is capable of, and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands. Composed in defence and deputizing for the injured Olisa Ndah, the 25-year-old proved his worth for Pirates. He has enjoyed a plethora of loan spells since joining Pirates in 2016 and another one could be on the horizon for the former youth international

The Ghanaian went from being the club’s top scorer in the 2021/22 season to spending more time in the stands than on the field at Pirates. Behind the likes of Zakhela Lepasa, Eva Nga, Evidence Makgopa in the pecking order at the club, the 22-year-old has been generating interest locally and abroad although Pirates have been adamant in holding onto him. But with game time scarce commodity to come by, a move away from the club, albeit on loan could be just what the burly striker needs.
