The possibility of following in the footsteps of Orlando Pirates by appointing a striker coach is fast becoming a reality for Kaizer Chiefs according to head coach Arthur Zwane.

While Amakhosi have struggled for goals this year, the same cannot be said for their cross-town rivals Orlando Pirates.

Since the appointment of Scott Chickelday, the former Tottenham Hotspur coach who specializes in working with strikers, the Buccaneers have managed seven goals in two games.

They had scored just twice in four games prior to that.

The impact of Chickelday at Pirates appears to have raised questions as to whether Chiefs would be better off following a similar route to solving their goalscoring woes.

“Maybe going forward, we might look to strengthen that department of maybe getting a striker coach, who can help us because there’s so much going on in the game. The game has evolved so if we can’t get it right as coaches, then maybe we’ll go that route,” Zwane told the media when quizzed about a possible addition to his technical team.
