Tshabalala, 38, has been inactive for the last two seasons since parting ways with AmaZulu, which has sparked rumours that he has called time on his glorious career.

As a result, talk has been rife that Tshabalala along with his business partner and former teammate Reneilwe Letsholonyane could be set for a return to Naturena, where they both enjoyed trophy-laden days with the Glamour Boys.

Now, the dreadlocked midfielder has finally addressed the talk, revealing that the possibility of him returning to Chiefs were merely rumours. “I heard about the rumours, but that’s not true. I was not informed or approached about that,” Shabba told journalists at the 2022 Walter Sisulu Discovery Tournament Launch in Sandton.

With regards to his status as a player, the veteran has reiterated his desire to continue playing at the highest level before calling it a day.

“[I’m] not yet retired, it’s still the same. I’m still Siphiwe Tshabalala, active soccer player,” he added.

Tshabalala last featured in a professional match in June 2021, when he featured in a goalless draw for AmaZulu against Maritzburg United.
