Sundowns’ prowess shows a paradigm shift in power from perennial giants Chiefs and Pirates. While the three sides are often mentioned in the same breath as the country’s ‘Big three’, there is a considerable gap between them when it comes to their values on Transfermarkt.com.

Their Soweto counterparts lag behind the Chloorkop outfit with Orlando Pirates boasting the second most valuable squad with a market value of €16.7m (±R311m).

Chiefs, who have spent quite significantly at the start of the campaign boast the third most valuable squad in the league. Their market value estimated around €12.7m (±R237m).

Sundowns’ most valuable player, Peter Shalulile, has an impressive €2m (±R37m) market value, while for Chiefs, their vice-captain Keagan Dolly ranks as their most valuable player at €1.3m (±R24m). Pirates’ most valuable player is Deon Hotto with a market value of €1m (±R18m).
