Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena has sent a message to the rest of the DStv Premiership teams who sit back against the champions.

Sundowns left it late for a second successive DStv Premiership clash, as Marcelo Allende's stoppage time strike secured a 1-0 win over Usuthu.

"Ja firstly congratulations to Mamelodi Sundowns, I think based on just the second-half performance a well deserved three points," Mokwena told SuperSport after.

"Congratulations to the technical team, congratulations to the supporters and also congratulations to AmaZulu because they gave a very good fight."

Mokwena was asked his thoughts on Sundowns not having a shot on target in the first-half and attributed it to Usuthu's defensive tactics.

"Well it's a bit difficult because, I say to you all the time, there's only one team that's prepared to play," he said.

"AmaZulu in all the games that they have played, have played a 4-3-3 with three strikers on top and today they played only with one, with 'Gaba' [Gabadinho Mhango] and with [Dumisani] Zuma a little bit closer.

"And a five-man defensive line, so, ja. We have the responsibility sometimes to make sure we're a little bit aggressive, we had the first big chance in the first-half with 'Mshishi'.

"He did everything right he could have scored and if you don't score that one, then the game keeps on going the way the way keeps going and then it's very difficult," he explained.

"But congratulations to our boys and that also sends a message to all the opponents that we've got a goal, it doesn't matter how long it takes for us to score but we've got a goal.

"Even in the 95th, 96th, 97th minute we've got a goal, so congratulations to the players for a very good mentality."
