Maritzburg United are understood to have added defender Bradley Cross to their roster for the remainder of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season, the Siya crew have been informed.

It was revealed by the Siya crew that Cross had been training with the Kwa-Zulu Natal outfit following a training stint with SuperSport United and an assessment with Kaizer Chiefs.

According to Siya sources, the young defender has managed to impress coach Fadlu Davids and his technical team during his trial with the Team of Choice.

According to a source close to the Pietermaritzburg-based outfit, talks around the player’s deal are at an advanced stage and is expected to be officially announced in the course of the week.

“It didn’t take long for the player to impress at the team and at the moment, he is close to signing and if all goes well, he will be unveiled soon,” a source informed the Siya crew.

Cross is the third defender set to be signed by Maritzburg following the addition of experienced duo Raafiq De Goede and Wayde Jooste.

The 21-year-old was last on the books of Newcastle FC reserves, where he spent two seasons and prior to that with Schalke 04 in Germany. The player had come through the development ranks at Bidvest Wits although he has never featured in the South African topflight.
