Former Orlando Pirates defender Happy Jele is set to reassess his options after his surprise decision, the Siya crew has learnt.

It is exactly four months now after Jele parted ways with the Soweto giants, after 16 years of being with the club and captaining the side in the latter stages of his spell.

The Buccaneers had offered the veteran defender the option of a new role as a non-playing staff but he turned it down as he expressed interest on being on the field as a full time professional footballer.  

After being linked with Royal AM, it has seemed that the 35-year-old will no longer be heading to the KwaZulu-Natal club while sources have indicated that the Middelburg-born player might re-consider his decision about wanting to play.

“Happy is a true professional and he loves playing very much. He said he would like to play for another season or two. Yes, nothing has come his way thus far, but there’s still January where clubs will be looking to sign experienced players and he might get his wish,” said the source.

“But if things don’t work out well for him, he was offered a job at Pirates. He is a legend there and a return to the club can’t be ruled out for him,” the source added.
