With Orlando Pirates star Monnapule Saleng heavily benefitting from his loan move to Swallows FC, we take a look at three other players who have gained from being loaned out by the Buccaneers in the past.
The 24-year-old is the talk of the town after establishing himself as a regular for the Buccaneers with his rich form, which has seen him being selected for Bafana Bafana’s friendly matches against Mozambique and Angola.
However, Saleng reflects on his move to the Birds’ nest as a good one, after Pirates decided to send him out on loan for the 2021/22 season where he obtained much-needed topflight experience following his move from Free State Stars.
“I think timing is everything. I don’t think I could’ve given what I’m giving now without adjusting to top-flight football first. So, moving to Swallows to acclimatize and then coming to Orlando Pirates to perform was a good move. I needed that,” Saleng told SAFA.com

He, however, is not the only Pirates star who has benefitted from a loan move…
The likes of Thembinkosi Lorch, Paseka Mako, Tebogo Tlolane (Chippa United and Maritzburg United) and Zakhele Lepasa (TS Galaxy) have all benefitted from loan moves in the past.
Lorch in particular spent the 2016/17 season with the Chilli Boys where he featured prominently, scoring three goals and registering two assists in 17 appearances which earned him a recall to Pirates the following season.
