With a few weeks left to go in the local transfer window, the number of free agents in the Premier Soccer League remain relatively high and Soccer Laduma takes a look at the seven most valuable players who are currently without a contract.
AmaZulu, prior to the start of the 2022/23 season, confirmed the departure of Augustine Mulenga after just two seasons with Usuthu.
The 32-year-old is rated as one of the top foreign exports in Mzansi in recent times and played a pivotal part in the club finishing in second place in the 2020/21 season and played 21 games in all competitions for the club last season, scoring three goals and setting up two assists.
According to the figures on Transfermarkt.com, Mulenga is currently the most expensive free agent with a market value of €675 000 (±R12.5m). However, his value took a drop due to the COVID-19 pandemic - in January this year he was valued at €725 000 (±R12.49m).
The Zambian matched his highest market value ever, in 2021 when he initially joined the KwaZulu-Natal outfit from Orlando Pirates.
Having turned out for two clubs in Mzansi already, it now remains to be seen where Mulenga will end up plying his trade next and whether or not his market value will continue to increase.
