Simba Marumo Confident In Deolin Mekoa's Ability

Mamelodi Sundowns legend, Simba Marumo, believes that Deolin Mekoa has the quality to be a success at Mamelodi Sundowns if he joins the club.

Sundowns Still Keen On Mekoa

Mekoa saw his move to the Brazilians fall through before the transfer window slammed shut, but the Siya crew reported that Pitso Mosimane would be interested in resuscitating talks with Mekoa’s club, Maritzburg United and see the deal completed in January or before next season. Now, the 2001 CAF Champions League finalist has said that he believes Mekoa has the quality to play for the reigning Absa Premiership champions.

“He (Mekoa) has the quality, but it’s also more than your personal qualities as a player that you need to make it happen,” he told Soccer Laduma.

Masuku On What It Was Like Playing Against Neymar

In addition to his comments on Mekoa as a player, Marumo explained that to make it at a big team like Sundowns, players need mental strength to deal with a variety of factors that also influence a player’s performances.

“I think it’s a lot more about your mental strength when the challenge comes,” he continued. “Because there are so many other aspects about the game that play a part, like if the other players have confidence in him to pass him the ball or feel like they can trust him with the ball and stuff like that.

“It’s very important, because you’re looking at a team that shares the ball a lot and if they believe in you, then they’re confident that you’ll deliver for them.”
