Following a brief assessment with Kaizer Chiefs, former Newcastle u23 defender Bradley Cross has resurfaced at a new club in the DStv Premiership.

As reported by the Siya crew earlier this month, Chiefs opted against signing the former Newcastle Reserves and Bidvest Wits defender after he spent some time training with Amakhosi in hopes of impressing coach Arthur Zwane.

However, the 22-year-old recently resurfaced at a new club. According to Siya sources in Kwa-Zulu Natal, Cross has been spending the last few days training with Maritzburg United.

The crew understands that the new man in charge of the Team of Choice is a big admirer of the steely centre back and is keen on adding him to a new-look Maritzburg team.

The source further indicated that Cross has not officially put pen to paper with Maritzburg just yet although talks of a potential deal are at an advanced stage. If signed, Cross, who is a free agent could form a new centre back partnership with former Stellenbosch FC captain Raafiq De Goede, who also recently joined the KZN outfit.

Cross came through the famed the Bidvest Wits academy, before spending two seasons on loan at Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04. Thereafter, the player was snapped up by Newcastle United's under-23 squad after completing a successful trial with the Magpies.

He featured in the UEFA Youth League as well as the Premier League 2.

Cross will be hoping to clarify his future in the coming weeks, with most clubs in the DStv Premiership having returned to training this week.

It remains to be seen whether the 21-year-old will continue his club search locally, or whether he will look to further his career abroad once again.
