Former Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City striker Justin Shonga is hoping to give his career a fresh start after signing a new contract abroad.

Having struggled to get a new club in the DStv Premiership since parting ways with Sekhukhune United at the end of last season, Shonga has signed with Nkwazi FC in Zambia.

Shonga did well at Nkwazi before arriving in Mzansi in 2017 when he signed with the Buccaneers and is now hoping to replicate similar performances and rediscover his scoring form.

According to sources, a return to the PSL has not been ruled out for the 25-year-old forward, while he will also be eyeing a European move, having previously been linked with a few clubs abroad.

The forward has previously also played for Egyptian club Ismaily and the national team of Zambia.

“Justin Shonga is a good player whose contribution at Nkwazi will help the team in many ways and it is also a good opportunity for him to start afresh. That’s where he did well in the past and he’s got age on his side and can still go back to the PSL or even move abroad. That’s what he will be working on,” said the source.
