U-Turn On The Cards For Maduka?

Former Maritzburg United coach John Maduka might not be unemployed for long, with indications from sources that one of his previous employers are considering a return for the mentor. 

The Team of Choice confirmed parting ways with Maduka on Thursday, following a string a disappointing results this season.

While indications are that the KZN-based outfit could rope in Fadlu Davids as their next coach, sources have revealed that Maduka’s name has been bandied about for a potential return to Royal AM.

The 52-year-old tactician led Royal to a third place finish in the DStv Premiership last season and his departure from the club came as a surprise for many in the fraternity.

The Malawian also helped Thwihli Thwahla in their qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup in their first season in Mzansi’s topflight.

However, things did not go well for the coach at the Team of Choice after achieving only two victories from 13 matches, and with the side at the bottom of the log, led to technical team changes at the club.

“John Maduka is being considered for a return to Royal AM as a possible addition to their technical team. Remember that Royal AM had three coaches but ever since Dan Malesela left, his role hasn’t been filled. Maduka’s name has been mentioned as part of the planned changes, though nothing is official yet,” said the source.
