Goalkeeper Ismail Watenga is set to leave Marumo Gallants and is hoping to stay in the topflight next season. Watenga spent the past season with Bahlabane Ba Ntwa, but was unable to get playing minutes ahead of number one choice Washington Arubi in goal.

The 28-year-old made just four appearances in the DStv Premiership and featured once in the Nedbank Cup.

While the net minder did not want to fully get into it when contacted for comment on the sidelines of the club’s end-of-season awards ceremony last Sunday, the Siya crew understands that he is still a Mamelodi Sundowns player, and a decision will be made on his future in the coming weeks.
