What's the story?

FIFA 23 developers has made a long term commitment to enhancing the women's game through investments and a broadcast partnership with DAZN Sports. 

They've also unveiled the 'Starting XI Fund,' which they've kickstarted with a huge sum of R197 million. 

Along with adding the UEFA Women's Champions League to FIFA 23, EA agreed to a multi-year sponsorship partnership with DAZN for the elite women's club tournament.

EA Sports invests in women's football

A press release by EA Sports highlighted the key initiatives that were announced at the aforementioned summit. 

The key initiatives dedicated to championing the women’s football community and growing the game both on and off the pitch. 

The 'Starting XI Fund', which is described as an accelerator fund by EA for women’s football that is designed to grow the game moving forward.

The fund was jumpstarted by EA with an $11 million (R197 million) investment, which incorporates in-game, league, club and athlete investment.

EA also announced that in 2023, it will fund a women’s football internship program with new and existing women’s league partners, aimed to inspire and empower young women from diverse backgrounds to become more involved in the footballing world. 

In conjunction with the UEFA Women's Champions being included on FIFA 23, EA agreed to a multi-year sponsorship partnership with DAZN to become the Global Broadcast Partner of the competition.

The partnership kick offs in March next year. EA's advertising will be featured across all matchday global broadcasts on DAZN and on DAZN’s Champions League YouTube Channel.
