Grade 12 pupils at a Whittlesea revision centre fell ill after allegedly eating pap and long-life milk.

Three pupils were injured during shocking scenes at Mmokeng Secondary School on Friday, 17 April 2026.

Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Matome Chiloane, said the programme is transforming education in the province.

The pupils from Moratwe Secondary School in Kgomo Kgomo in North West passed with 100% pass rate.

In a statement, the department said the results will be made available in the same pseudonymised format used in recent years.

The aim of the Second Chance Matric Programme is to provide support to pupils who have not been able to meet the requirements of the National Senior Certificate or the extended Senior Certificate.

Parliament voted against it on Tuesday night, 2 December.
