
Acclaimed Metro FM radio personality, DJ Fresh, real name Thato Sikwane, has been in hot water with the SABC after a listener, Daniel Mokwa, laid a complaint with the BCCSA (Broadcasting Complaints Commission Of South Africa) about Thato’s foul language on air.
According to Sunday World, the ‘Big Dawg’ used “Msunery” which is an Nguni swear word. In another incident, Fresh also went to Twitter streets to declare that a listener should “stop tweeting from his ass”.

After these incidents, Fresh has not been air however, there has been an outcry for Fresh to come back on air with the hashtag, #BringBackDJFRESH.
Fresh kept fans in the dark when he participated in the hashtag #WhenMyGutSaid. “Listen to @euphonik’, all of two years ago, I should have!!! Now I must call him and say “Seems as if you were right”#FML #TheBookOfEuphonza #Nonkery”, the ‘Big Dawg’ tweeted.
On 4 July, Fresh broke his silence about his supension by posting a video on Twitter.
“I need to apologise for the wall of silence, it’s been three weeks of not knowing what the heck is going on, it has been frustrating for you as it has for me but truth be told, one of the main reason there has been massive silence is because we had an impasse with the corporation. At this stage, I can’t even tell you whether this impasse is breakable,” he said.

He went on to comfort his fans. “You deserve better than this silence and I’ll break it.”
