Before this trip, I had never been to Mpumalanga – and the first thing I noticed about this lush province is its beautiful scenery. Here’s my review of our #WeDoTourism trip.
Day 1
Our first #WeDoTourism road trip started with a journey from Joburg to Dullstroom, also known as eMakhazeni. After checking in the night ended with a relaxed cocktail dinner. We ate, drank, and laughed as we rubbed shoulders with the who's who of Mpumalanga.
Day 2
The second day of our #WeDoTourism road trip through Mpumalanga took us from Dullstroom to Machadodorp where we enjoyed a good 'chicken dust' meal and did Roc ‘n Rope (abseiling). Even though I sat out the abseiling because of my nails and my fear of heights, my group members had a lot of fun. Most of them felt empowered after they were done. I would definitely like to try it when I'm strong enough. We left the small town of Machadodorp and headed to spend the night at the beautiful Misty Mountain where we had a great warm welcome and an amazing dinner.
Day 3
Just before checking out of Misty Mountain lodge, we played the long-tom toboggan at Misty Mountain, a fun activity but it isn't for the faint hearted. I would definitely do it again. Our adventure ended and we had to move on to Sabie where we enjoyed a beer tour and a visit to the Lone creek falls which was my highlight. The Lone creek falls is about an hour's drive from Kruger National Park. We spent our last night at Casambo Lodge, which was another highlight of my trip. The lodge is black-owned, which is something to be proud of..
Day 4
The last day of our #WeDoTourism road trip through Mpumalanga started off with a hearty breakfast at Casambo lodge; it was then time to head off in time for a drive to Matsamo Cultural Village to learn more about the Swati culture and witness Swati dances.
