The conversation about the genderisation of skincare products has been happening for a while now - "what does a women-branded moisturiser offer to women that it can't offer to men" - is often a popular question posed by users on Twitter and other platforms. Now, Pharrell Williams recently announced that he would be launching a gender-neutral skincare line called 'Humanrace'.
The 47-year-old, who is often complimented for his flawless and age defying skin, developed the Humanrace skincare range with his long-time dermatologist, Dr. Elena Jones.
According to Elle, Humanrace Skincare will feature three essential products. These include a Rice Powder Cleanser which is made from micronised rice powder, a Lotus Enzyme Exfoliator and a Humidifying Cream. The products are for daily use, are fragrance-free, and are vegan-friendly.
In a press statement sent to the publication, Pharrell explained the philosophy behind his skincare products.

“Your face is the result of the spirit behind it, it’s important to take care of your skin and to also take time for yourself each day," he said before sharing how important inclusion is to his brand.
“We wanted to choose ingredients that are clean, effective and friendly for all skin types. Humanrace Skincare doesn’t differentiate by race or gender. We’re creating for humans, we are all born in the same skin and Humanrace celebrates this,” he added.
The products will be available on the Humanrace website from 25 November 2020.
