The Hollywoodbets Durban July returned after a two-year-long hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Filly Sparkling water came out tops in the races and won the G1 race.
Celebrities, influencers, socialites and fashionistas made sure to look the part with the theme 'Show me the honey'.

After two years of not hosting one of the country's biggest events in the social calendar, the Durban July returned with a new sponsor, Hollywoodbets, and everyone from different parts of the country came to the sunny city of Durban for a day of celebration, fashion and horse racing.

Hosted at the Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse, the races ended in a victory for Filly Sparkling water ridden by S'manga Khumalo. The horse won the G1 race after leading with about four lengths in the final stretch.

Following the devastating floods that occurred in KwaZulu-Natal earlier this year, eThekwini executive mayor Mxolisi Kaunda said that the province's economy is bouncing back.

"Today is a wonderful day for us here eThekwini to showcase that indeed our economy is bouncing back. All flights to Durban and hotels were fully booked this weekend by people coming from all corners of South Africa to attend and celebrate the Durban July," he addressed guests at the Durban tourism marquee.

With this year's theme being 'Show me the honey', celebrities, influencers, socialites and fashionistas made sure to look the part and left the race course looking colourful with their ensembles, which consisted of long gowns, playful designs and hats.
