Society tends to glorify women who take care of others more than they care for themselves. There’s an assumption that just because you can take care of others, you’re a superwoman who is also capable of taking care of yourself.

Sadly, this is not true. People who take care of others often neglect themselves and their wellbeing. Many people have dubbed this year “a year of setting aside resolutions and letting self-care reign supreme”. No one has said it better than social media whizz Steven Bartlett: “Real self-care can’t be bought! It isn’t just spa days and facials. Real self-care is a series of tough decisions. The decision to be more disciplined, to address your recurring toxic thoughts, to prioritise your mental health and to put your happiness over your history.”
