On 16 June 2022, media personality Phumeza Mdabe and musician Shota, whose real name is Mnqobi Mdabe, had their traditional wedding in Mlazi, KwaZulu-Natal.

In attendance was actress Thuli Thabethe, who is a close friend of the couple, dressed in various types of traditional garb as per the theme of the wedding. The bride and groom donned their respective Xhosa and Zulu attires during the ceremony.

The couple met in 2007 and, according to a post by Phumeza, got married at Home Affairs in 2014, then went home to celebrate with family and friends. Now, eight years later, the couple is once again celebrating their love for one another.
