The trailer of the much-anticipated Bridgerton spin-off Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is finally here.
The young Queen Charlotte is played by 21-year-old India Amarteifio and Golda Rosheuvel returns as the Queen we know and sometimes love from the first Bridgerton season. The young King George is played by 25-year-old Corey Mylchreest.
In this spin-off, Charlotte is set to marry the king of England, George. Their union marks a great shift in the ton.
Charlotte hears: “You will make lots of babies. As many babies as possible for my son,” from King George’s mother and “There are worse fates than marrying the King of England” while riding in a carriage. Both these messages signal themes of experiences of an arranged marriage and navigating relationships with the in-laws.
It is through this marriage arrangement that she meets Lady Agatha Dandbury, who introduces herself as a member of Charlotte’s court.
“Then we shall be great friends,” Charlotte says prophetically to Lady Dandbury.
The young Lady Dandbury is played by Arsema Thomas, and the celebrated Adjoa Andoh returns as the wise and sharp confidante of the Queen.
In this installment of Bridgerton, we get to see a peek into the formation of Agatha and Charlotte’s friendship from the beginning of the queen’s tumultuous reign.
Shonda Rhimes returns as the executive producer through her production company Shondaland.
The series premieres on 4 May 2023 on Netflix.
