The presenter from Empangeni, KZN, still can’t believe she’s been nominated as Best Radio Presenter at the Icebolethu Crown Gospel Music Awards.
She’s been nominated against Motsweding FM’s Brown Dibruin Mosiapoa, Blue Hazy FM’s Moshe Nyathi, Tambo FM’s Olwethu Ndabankulu, Zibonele FM’s Zanethemba Shiyani, Highway Radio’s Zikhona, and Ntokozo FM’s Nomi G.
MaZul’ Ozulayo spent almost a decade at community radio stations before she joined Ukhozi FM in 2023 after she won the Winnie Mahlangu Talent Search.
She told Daily Sun as she only started hosting the religious show Ezamabandla this year, she thought she was too new to compete against presenters who’ve been hosting religious shows for years.

But her work has proven she’s doing amazing things behind the mic.
“I believe when your time comes to shine, it’ll be your time to shine. Mind you, I just started hosting Ezamabandla this year and that shows management saw potential and that I can make a difference.
“I still can’t believe I’m nominated. For me, the nomination means a lot, but I can feel I’ll win it!” she said.
She said she’ll use her campaign to let people know she’s hosting the religious show and might attract new listeners who weren’t aware of her programme.
“This is my first nomination and if I win, it’ll be my first award. I’ve never tried to enter the Crown Gospel Music Awards even when I was still at community radio stations.”
MaZul’ Ozulayo is a woman who never gave up. She bounced back in 2023 after she failed to make it in during Ukhozi FM’s Vodacom M-PESA Top Stars DJ talent search competition in 2011.
