This is after taking an unexpected tumble on stage during Vusi Nova’s performance at the Kota Festival on Saturday, 31 October, at the Pretoria National Botanical Garden in Tshwane.

The 62-year-old music veteran, famous for his soulful voice and timeless love songs such as Sondela, Into Yam and Ndiyagodola, said the fall was nothing more than an unfortunate slip.

Videos of the incident circulated on social media, leaving fans concerned about the veteran musician’s well-being.

But speaking to Daily Sun, Ringo said he was unharmed and the fall had simply caught him by surprise.

“It was just a slip. I was still looking at him while moving backwards and all of a sudden, I was on the ground. But I’m fine, nothing happened,” he said.

Ringo explained that he had made a surprise appearance on stage to support Vusi Nova, who was performing at the festival.

He said he had not intended to join the performance but wanted to catch Vusi off guard with an unexpected appearance.

“I went to him, I surprised him, then he started to sing and I moved back just to give him the stage,” he said.

Unfortunately, while making his way towards the back, Ringo didn’t realise where the stage ended and lost his footing.

Despite the shock of hitting the ground, the singer said he instinctively turned onto his side to avoid serious injuries.

“I thought if I fell straight, I was going to break my ankles and my hips. So, the first thing was to lie on my side,” he said.

He also revealed that Vusi was concerned when he saw him fall but continued singing after realising that he was okay.

The veteran thanked fans and everyone who reached out to check on him, saying he appreciated their love and concern.

“First of all, thank you. I’m so fine. To my friends out there, thank you for the love and concern. I’m fine,” added Ringo.
