ZIKHONA Bali has ventured into the business world.
The 37-year-old, whose character on Mzansi Magic's DiepCity was recently killed off, has partnered with colleague Kgaogelo Monama to go into poultry farming.
"I accidentally got into this business. I wanted to get into cattle farming.
"The father of someone I worked with has a farm and I wanted to buy a cow from him," she said.
"His dad came to work with us on set and I told him about my idea.
"However, he advised me to start with chickens and progress to cattle later.

"At first I didn't want to but he showed me it was a good idea. Kgaogelo heard the conversation and wanted to be a part of it."
Zikhona said she started the business in the winter of 2022 but it didn't go well.
"We built a coop and started with 150 chickens but a lot of them died because of the cold and a lack of electricity," she said.
"But we are learning along the way and now we know what we need to do. Business is going well."
Zikhona said she wanted to own a farm in the future.
"For now, I also have onions, tomatoes and herbs planted on my balcony. I want to grow that as well," she said.

Zikhona said she was looking to grow her poultry business.
"We are currently looking for an abattoir. It costs around R86 000 and we hope to get some funding from stakeholders or the government," she said.
"I wish people would come on board and assist us as young businesspeople to improve our skills and grow our business. There are a lot of challenges and we need help with finances and skills development."
Zikhona said people who wanted to order chickens could reach her online.
