DJ SUMBODY'S spirit lives on, and his legacy is fondly remembered.
Oupa John Sefoka (38), known as DJ Sumbody, was a musician and businessman who was brutally killed in Joburg in 2022.
His brother, Koketso Sefoka, founder and chairman of the Be A Sumbody Foundation, said this legacy project is the custodian of DJ Sumbody's foundation, focusing on raising awareness, supporting the community, and hosting charitable events.
"The same way DJ Sumbody used to be part of the community and give to the community," he said.
A gala dinner was held at The Els Club, Copperleaf Golf Estate in Centurion, Tshwane, on Saturday, 27 March 2026.
This year, they are sponsoring an amateur golfer and raising funds for his journey to go pro, needing about R250 000.
They are also supporting Mokgomo Hungry Lion, a soccer team from Sekhukhune, Limpopo, to help them pursue their sporting dreams.
In 2025, the foundation supported a child-headed home, and next year, they will choose a different charitable cause.

"This part of the legacy project we do as the Sefoka family through the team we work with to keep the legacy going," he said.
The event started at 8:30am and featured 136 amateur and professional golfers. The money raised will assist both the amateur golfer and the soccer team.
Koketso said DJ Sumbody was a soccer fanatic who played for Arcadia Shepherds and was a talented left-footed player, known as "set piece".
He loved sports and was involved in entertainment.
As a family, they are committed to ensuring his legacy lives on.
"This is the most difficult journey I have had to travel as an individual. I have never gone through such a challenge in terms of continuously making sure and taking up his legacy to make sure it lives on. I can't fill his boots. His boots are too big. He touched many lives. Even today, we get calls and people who engage with us to say, " Guys, thank you for giving us a person like DJ Sumbody." We miss the contribution he made in life, financially and emotionally," he said.
Blessing Coangae from the Mercedes-Benz Centurion marketing and sales team said DJ Sumbody was very active in the community, and that the legacy being promoted aligns with their brand, as Copperleaf is within Centurion, where most of their clientele is based.
He added that DJ Sumbody was a car fanatic, especially fond of the V-Class, and drove a Mercedes-Benz.
