SHE believes Skeem Saam came at a time of shattered dreams.
Lethabo Mekoa won a scholarship to further her acting studies overseas but couldn't due to a lack of extra money she needed to be able to stay there for over a year.
While she was mourning her scholarship loss, Skeem Saam called her and said she got the role of Ntsoaki.
The 20-year-old actress has now settled into the industry and has already won awards.
She was speaking during an interview recently on Y.
Lethabo shared that she had been awarded a $60 000 (about R1 million) scholarship by none other than Tyler Perry himself.
"I had to let it go, and something weird happened. When other kids were leaving for America, I received a call back from Skeem Saam. It was a blessing in disguise."

She said being recognised for her acting impacted her in a big way.
"It's only been two years in the industry, and I'm already clocking an award."
Lethabo shared what she loves and hates about her character.
"I love how I can be in someone else's shoes and realise that it's not nice. I think what I dislike is the fact that she does bad things, and I end up getting crucified outside."
She said she stays motivated by praying.
"It motivates me because there is a lot we are dealing with individually, and a lot of people are dealing with that. The best thing is to pray," she said.
Lethabo said she has received the best advice from her mum.
"She once told me to never shrink to be accepted, and that played a huge role in my life. I used to be closed in and felt the pressure in big rooms. When she told me I've changed, and if it wasn't for advice, I wouldn't be where I am right now," said Lethabo.
